Off the Shelf: Something Borrowed

Today, instead of sharing photos of something off MY shelf, I’m borrowing from Gypsy Thornton’s wonderful Once Upon a Blog. I’ve been enjoying her blog for a while now, and it’s definitely a must if you want to stay up to date regarding when, where, and how fairy tales pop up in global media.

The past few days, she’s written about two beautiful fairy tale books.

Today, she posted about “Thorn Rose,” a Grimm tale illustrated by Errol Le Cain.

She shows you tons of these renaissance-type images, plus a gazillion close-ups on the details. Click on over to her blog and check it out!

A few days back, she wrote about a new “Hansel and Gretel” by Neil Gaiman and Lorenzo Mattotti. It’s a super-scary version all in scratchy black and white.

She links to videos, audio interviews, and more. Plus, you’ll get to see lots more of these compelling illustrations, like this one:

Enjoy!

QUESTION OF THE DAY
