Off the Shelf: Old-Time Fairy Tales

OldTimeFT1

This book is actually one of my most recent acquisitions. I picked it up the other day at a library bookshop. It has the sweetest inscription on the inside cover, from “Nana” to her grandchild, Brea. I was taken with the illustrations, all stylized and reminiscent of vintage posters.

Without further ado, here is “My Book of Old-Time Fairy Tales,” illustrated by Margaret Evans Price. The original book was published in 1921 by Checkerboard Press, but this 1995 edition was printed by Barnes & Noble in arrangement with Checkerboard.

Not too much commentary today. I’d like to forego words and just enjoy these lovely pictures. I’ve chosen the most recognizable stories, so you should have no trouble identifying them.
