No, this post is not about the 1989 Howie Mandel and Fred Savage movie. Although that would be awesome. Instead, it’s about these cute little guys I crocheted for my nephew’s seventh birthday.
When we asked his mom what he wanted, she said, “He’s really into monsters.” What kind of monsters? Any monsters. Monsters are the thing right now. Since I also knew he was a fan of little plushies, I decided to make these miniature monsters inspired by Stacey over at Fresh Stitches. Here’s her miniature monster:
It is much more delicate than mine, crocheted with a teensie hook and fine yarn. Mine are chunkier and the stitches are more noticeable.
But that’s OK! I did have a ton of fun making them. There’s the bottom-tooth guy with the big ears:
There’s the hairy-top guy with a bullseye.
And the strange one-toothed fellow with an eyeball cap.
Of course, this was not the only present that our nephew received, but it added a homemade touch to the gift.
If you have time and if you haven’t already, you should really check out Stacey’s blog Fresh Stitches, and if you want to know how to crochet little monsters, you can purchase her patterns — she has big monsters, too! Her creative creations are so adorable I just want to jump into a bathtub full of them. They certainly inspired me for my nephew’s gift.
